The story of calendars.

The Gregorian calendar:
  ·        This is our International Calendar which is used Worldwide.
  ·         It is a Solar calendar. Sun based!

   Regular years      :    365 days
   Leap year            :    366 days (Feb – 29 days)
   Months               :    12 months


New Year is celebrated universally on January 1st.


The Hebrew Calendar
·         It is the official Islamic Calender.
·         It is a Calculated Calendar. Lunisolar based.
·         It is sees to that religious festivals occur in right time.

The Islamic Calendar    
·         It was started from Era of the Hijra

 Tamil New year is celebrated in the month of April.

  The Chinese Calendar

·         It is used by Peoples' Republic of China.

·         It is used mainly for timing agricultural activities in the countryside.

·         It is a lunisolar calendar based on positions of the Sun and Moon.



  Chinese New year is celebrated in the month of Feburary.


The Julian Calendar
·         It is also known as the Roman calendar.
·         It was introduced by Julius Caesar
·         It was a standard for European civilization

·         It is a solar calendar months of fixed lengths.
